Nonstop flights from Norfolk reach farther than most people expect: Norfolk International Airport (ORF) has 44 nonstop destinations on seven airlines. Only two of those routes leave the mainland United States — San Juan and Cancún — and only Cancún requires a passport. Below is every direct route, which airline flies it, and whether it operates year-round or only in season.

San Juan: The Nonstop That Needs No Passport
JetBlue is the only airline flying Norfolk to San Juan (SJU) nonstop, and the trip takes about 3½ hours gate to gate with no passport required, because Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory. Flights run several days a week rather than daily, so confirm the schedule before you build a trip around it. Our companion guide covers what to do once you land: Old San Juan Shore Excursions.
Cancún: Seasonal Only
Breeze Airways operates the only nonstop from Norfolk to Cancún (CUN), and the airport lists it as a seasonal route rather than a year-round one. That means it appears and disappears with demand, so it is worth checking rather than assuming it will be there next winter. This is also the one ORF nonstop that genuinely requires a passport.
Coast to Coast: The Longest Nonstops from Norfolk
The two longest nonstops from ORF both belong to Breeze Airways: Los Angeles (LAX) and San Diego (SAN). Both are seasonal, and both are the only single-plane options between Norfolk and Southern California. If your dates fall outside the season, every West Coast trip from Norfolk means a connection somewhere.
Landing at ORF, Headed to the Outer Banks?
Norfolk International is the closest major airport to the Outer Banks — figure about two hours to the beach after you’ve got your bags. If your plans include the 4×4 beaches north of Corolla, ORF Jeep Rental delivers a beach-ready Jeep to the airport on a flat weekly rate, so you skip the rental counter entirely.
If you are flying into Norfolk for a cruise rather than out of it, give yourself a buffer day. These routes all land at ORF, under half an hour from the pier in normal traffic, but a same-day arrival leaves no room for a delay — and seasonal routes are the first ones cut. Our Norfolk Cruise Terminal guide covers the airport-to-pier trip, parking, and what embarkation morning actually looks like.
